The aesthetic look of your bedroom largely depends on the bedding covers you choose. For the bedding to fit nicely and look neat, it’s important to select the correct cover size.
The most common mistake is choosing a duvet cover that’s the exact same size as the duvet itself. In that case, the duvet often looks too large, bunches up, and doesn’t lay smoothly. So how do you choose the right bedding cover size?
When selecting natural fabrics, keep in mind that they tend to shrink slightly after washing. This is something you might notice with jeans after washing, but it’s often forgotten when buying bedding. While slightly shrunken clothes can stretch out again when worn, a shrunken duvet cover can really ruin the overall look of your bed.
When choosing a bedding set, it’s recommended to add up to 5% to your duvet size to account for shrinkage. For example, if your duvet size is 140x200 cm, choose a duvet cover size of 150x215 cm.
